Join Janie Respitz as she musically explores life in the cities and towns of Eastern European Jews. With beloved popular Yiddish songs as well as some lesser known, Janie takes us from the cradle to cheder; from courtship and love to marriage and aging. Rozhinkes mit MandlenOifn Pripitchik, Di Mezinke Oysgegbn, and Kinder Yorn are just a few of the nostalgic songs whose plaintive melodies and poetic Yiddish words reflect every beautiful aspect of Jewish life.

Janie Respitz is a Montreal-based Yiddish scholar and entertainer. For over thirty years she has performed in concerts throughout the world. She has taught courses relating to Yiddish language, folklore, literature and Eastern European Jewish history, at Queen’s University, McGill University, Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors and a variety of other learning environments. Janie has delighted audiences with her vast repertoire of Yiddish songs and lecture topics, and in 2019, Janie won the international Yiddish Idol song competition in Mexico City.
